Tadano Unveils AS-63HD Boom Lift
Tadano introduced the AS-63HD, a heavy-duty telescopic boom lift that features a 2,200-pound platform capacity, making it the first of its kind in North America. The AS- 63HD combines the reach of a boom lift with the lifting power of a rough terrain scissor lift, addressing common safety risks and improving jobsite efficiency.
The 2,200-pound capacity allows contractors to move workers and heavy materials simultaneously, eliminating the need for multiple machines on-site. This innovation helps avoid platform overloading, a common issue with mobile elevating work platforms that can lead to shutdowns and delays. Tadano’ s engineering expertise in crane manufacturing has been applied to the AS-63HD, resulting in a rigid crane-inspired mast and a four-section synchronized telescoping boom that enhances stability and reduces deflection.
This design eliminates the need for outriggers or stabilizers, which streamlines setup time and improves efficiency. The AS-63HD also features automatic four-motion control, allowing operators to position the lift in any straight-line direction. It offers a maximum platform height of 62 feet 8 inches and a horizontal outreach of 37 feet 4 inches, providing superior overhead access and 360-degree continuous platform rotation. The platform’ s expansive dimensions can accommodate up to 10 occupants or a combination of workers and materials, ideal for tasks like steel erection, pipefitting and welding.
Powered by a 74.3-horsepower Kubota engine, the AS-63HD offers 40 % gradeability and five-degree tilt control, along with travel speeds of up to 3 miles per hour for efficient movement on-site. This combination of boom and scissor lift capabilities maximizes jobsite versatility, making it a valuable asset for industrial construction and infrastructure projects. Manufactured in Japan for long-term durability, the AS-63HD will be available in the U. S. and Canada starting in the second half of 2025.
