Xtreme Manufacturing XR50100-G
In 2023, Xtreme Manufacturing introduced the XR50100-G telehandler, developed in collaboration with longtime customer BZI. The construction firm had relied on Xtreme’ s XR2450 model to support its MezzMaster systems, but as customers requested higher mezzanines in larger structures, BZI sought a machine with greater height and capacity. To avoid increasing crane use on jobsites, the company worked with Don Ahern and the Xtreme team to create a purpose-built solution.
Nicknamed“ Trackzilla,” the XR50100-G is designed to lift 14,000 pounds at a 48-inch load center to a height of 100 feet. That requirement led to a maximum capacity of 38,000 pounds, later increased to 50,000 pounds with larger lift cylinders. The machine is capable of unloading full truckloads of steel in a single pick, cutting material handling time and improving efficiency on construction projects.
The design incorporates stability measures to accommodate the telehandler’ s reach and capacity. Instead of outriggers, the machine uses an oversized track system to keep contact pressure below 110 pounds per square inch at maximum load. A hydraulically extending axle system provides a nearly 32-foot wheelbase, a 17-foot working width and the ability to retract to less than 12 feet for transport. With the carriage installed, the XR50100-G weighs 158,000 pounds but remains transportable without over-height permits.
Power comes from a 675-hp, 15-liter Cummins X15 engine that delivers hydraulic flows exceeding 300 gallons per minute for travel and lift operations. The telehandler reaches a top speed of 8 mph and includes an elevating cab with tilt for visibility and operator comfort when placing loads or working in congested areas. With its combination of capacity, reach and mobility, the XR50100-G is built to support modern steel erection and large-scale construction projects.
