LIFT SPOTLIGHT

Boom Lifts

Each Product Roundup offers highlights on a specific type of equipment for the aerial lift and material handling industry. These manufacturers have provided details on the model of their choosing.
Manitou ATJ 46 +
The Manitou ATJ 46 + articulated boom lift is designed to meet operators’ outdoor handling needs. Three joystick controllers allow the machine to perform( four) simultaneous and proportional hydraulic movements. This, combined with cushioned cylinders, allows for smooth operation and first-time precise positioning in tight areas. The ATJ 46 +( PLUS) also has a higher capacity and wide platform( 7-foot, 7-inch length and 2-foot, 11-inch width) that holds three people with an unrestricted range of motion and a capacity of 900 pounds.
The ATJ 46 + has a platform height of 46 feet, 7 inches and an outreach height of 27 feet, 11 inches, with an up-and-over height of 24 feet, 2 inches. It offers 360-degree continuous turret rotation by way of a hydraulic motor, with the rotation speed varying based on the extension of the boom. The ATJ 46 + allows the operator to select three steering modes— four-wheel, two-wheel or crab— based on the terrain and jobsite, and the machine features rough-terrain foam-filled tires to handle tough jobsite conditions. A heavy-duty oscillating, limited-slip front axle improves front-wheel traction on slippery or all-terrain surfaces and adds a button-activated locking rear differential.
This articulated boom lift features a 24.1-horsepower Kubota Tier 4 diesel motor, automatic engine revolutions per minute based on multifunction and system load. Optional generators, work lights, bio-degradable and cold-temperature oils, oil pre-heaters, high-capacity battery and battery blankets provide performance in any temperature environment.

JLG 860SJ +
The JLG 860SJ + telescopic boom lift is designed for work that demands both reach and flexibility, offering an 86-foot platform height for a range of elevated applications, including construction, steel erection and industrial maintenance. The machine builds on the 860SJ, while introducing updates aimed at improving how operators handle materials and position themselves at height.
An increase in platform capacity allows crews to bring more materials and personnel into the air, reducing the need for repeated trips. Strong outreach performance supports consistent positioning across a wider working area, while added flexibility in machine movement helps operators navigate around
Skyjack SJ45 ARJN
Skyjack’ s new compact, zero-emission, low-noise SJ45 ARJN has been designed to offer superior performance across indoor and outdoor jobsites. The SJ45 ARJN battery-powered electric slab boom has a working height starting at 51 feet. With a platform capacity of 500 pounds, a 4-foot, 8-inch jib as standard and a narrow width of 4 feet, 11 inches, the SJ45 ARJN provides up-and-over access capability of 25 feet, 7 inches. This new slab boom offers onsite maneuverability and precision to work in confined spaces.
The SJ45 ARJN features EASYDRIVE, an intuitive directionsensing function that allows the machine to move in the general direction of the joystick’ s movement, where forwards is forwards and backwards is backwards. There is no need to coordinate coloured directional arrows on the base of the machine. The boom also features SKYRISER technology, which ensures that the riser and main pivot point connecting the fly boom to the riser travel in a straight vertical line. Movement in a true vertical manner, without drifting forward or back, reduces the amount of repositioning the operator needs to do in order to stay close to a building facade, improving productivity.
The SJ45 ARJN is one of the few machines in this class to offer a rotating jib, which provides 180-degree horizontal movement( ANSI) or 132-degree horizontal movement( CE) to allow precise positioning of the platform and increased productivity. This narrow machine is capable of access through double standard doors, offers a low stowed height of 6 feet, 6 inches and has a weight under 16,000 pounds, which increases ease of transport.

structural obstacles and tight jobsite conditions. When equipped with approved power options, the platform can also accommodate high-powered tools, including welding equipment, without requiring support from the ground.
Serviceability is addressed through a layout that improves access to key components and centralizes maintenance points, helping simplify routine service and diagnostics. The integration of JLG’ s ClearSky Smart Fleet IoT platform adds a layer of connectivity, giving fleet managers and operators greater visibility into machine performance and maintenance needs.
