CranePower has launched the E-Gen, a compact battery-powered mobile energy system designed for construction applications, as the company expands its focus on reducing diesel dependency across jobsites.

The New Zealand-based startup developed the system to provide an alternative to traditional diesel generators, which are commonly used to power equipment such as tower cranes. The E-Gen system is built around

CranePower’ s Adaptive Power Platform, which manages energy sources including generators, mains power and stored battery energy. The platform is designed to respond to demand spikes in real time, supporting more efficient energy use on site.

The E-Gen is engineered to balance energy demand throughout the day, reducing downtime and minimizing reliance on fuel.

The system is designed with a compact footprint, approximately 10 % the size of a traditional containerized battery energy storage system.

Each E-Gen unit provides real-time performance monitoring through a 4G-enabled interface, allowing operators to track power

usage, battery status and environmental conditions.

Entries are now open for the 2026 Leadership in Lifting Equipment and Aerial Platforms( LLEAP) Awards, recognizing new and updated equipment, components and services in the North American lifting and access market.

The program covers products introduced between June 1, 2025, and May 31, 2026, that are currently available for purchase. Eligible entries include new models, products newly introduced to North America and

significantly redesigned equipment or services. Categories include MEWPs, vehicle-mounted

2 026 aerial lifts, material handlers, components and aftermarket support offerings.

Entries are due July 3, 2026. A panel of industry professionals will evaluate submissions based on innovation, value, productivity and overall industry impact. Gold and Silver awards will be presented in each category, with winners announced in the November-December 2026 issue of Lift & Access.
